Long awaiting search is now available as of November 2024 for Google Authenticator App for Android.
Google Authenticator for Android now supports search functionality. The feature was introduced with version 7.0 of the app, which began rolling out in August 2024 and became widely available in November 2024[10][4].
New Search Feature
The search bar allows users to quickly find the 2FA code for a specific account without having to scroll through their entire list of saved accounts[4]. This is particularly useful for users who have numerous accounts stored in the app.
Other Updates in Version 7.0
Along with the search feature, Google Authenticator 7.0 for Android includes several other improvements:
- Material You redesign with Dynamic Color theming
- Privacy screen option for added security
- Improved QR code scanner with flash capability
- Automatic theme switching based on time of day
- Redesigned user interface with rounded buttons and a new pill-shaped top bar
These updates bring the Android version of Google Authenticator in line with the iOS version, which received similar features earlier in 2024[6][8].
